Mariana is a Certified Nutritionist and she graduated from the University of Guadalajara. She is certified by the Official College of Physicians of Barcelona in Clinical Dietetics, Nutritional Support by La Salle University, Diabetes Educator by University Anahuac, and she is about to graduate in Sustainable Nutrition in Harvard Medical School. Her professional focus and passion are nutrition, food security, food systems and more recently, climate change. She has specialized in Socio Nutritional Impact Assessment in Vulnerable Groups, by the School of Public Health and Nutrition of the Autonomous University of Nuevo Leon. For 18 years, she has worked in Food Banks in the areas of Nutrition, Social Work, Institutional Relations, Strategic Alliances and now serving as General Director of the BAMX Network, a socio-environmental organization comprised of 59 food banks nationwide, dedicated to provide social food assistance to vulnerable groups by providing a sustainable and responsible solution to the surpluses from the agri-food ecosystem avoiding the environmental impact of its waste. In 2023 BAMX, prevented more than 171 million kilos of food from going to waste, improved food security for 2.5 million people in food insecurity through the country and avoided 151,000 tons of CO2 emissions from going to the atmosphere.
