Javier Brenes

Food Managing Director and Mexico President, CARGILL

Javier Brenes has extensive experience in the food and agriculture industry. He began his career at Cargill in 2006, joining the commercial team following the acquisition of CAINSA, a leading cold cuts company in Nicaragua. Javier was responsible for integrating the newly acquired company into Cargill’s structure. He had a successful tenure in Nicaragua as Product Manager for Cold Cuts, Chicken Product Manager, and Commercial Manager. While serving as Commercial Manager, Cargill merged with a regional poultry company operating in Costa Rica and Nicaragua called Pipasa, when he was later promoted to General Manager in Nicaragua.

In September 2016, he took on the role of Commercial Director for Cargill’s Protein business, overseeing the Sales and Marketing teams across all Central American countries. In 2019, Javier was promoted to Executive Director for the protein business in Colombia, leading the integration of Pollos Bucaneros and Campollo into Cargill.

In 2024, he relocated to Mexico and currently serves as President of Cargill in Mexico and Executive Director of Cargill, Food Mexico.

Javier holds a degree in Industrial Engineering from the American University of Nicaragua and an MBA from INCAE Business School.
